Life Review Journal Project
Publish on: 20, Dec 2018The Life Review Project was conducted by Ms Tan Chao Min is an undergraduate from Nanyang Technological University, School of Social Sciences, Major in Psychology Year 4.
The objective of this project is to understand the decision to move into nursing for seniors, the use Life Review Art Sessions as an avenue for them to talk about their life experiences and their feelings. Talking about past experiences can help to identify what is important to the individual and also understand the positive/negative memories experienced by the individual. Knowing their positive memories can help to understand what the individuals used to enjoy and understanding the negative memories and their regrets can help to recognize what are some things that they can achieve in their life in nursing homes instead. Additionally, the sessions will be conducted as a small group which can serve as a platform for newly admitted residents to socialise and gain social support.
This project is part of THK NH Dementia Care. A total of 8 activity sessions for 4 female and 4 male residents of that were conducted from September to December 2018.
